vabih459 6 days ago I don't think you're being dramatic. Losing your cat, even temporarily, can be really stressful and scary. You might need to talk to your gf about this. 2.2k Reply Share

idaall OP 6 days ago Being called a dramatic guy indeed hurt me. I did argue with her trying my best to calm down, but she just kept complaining about that. 1.1k Reply Share

rosini290 6 days ago Try to calmly explain to your girlfriend why it was such a big deal to you. The most important thing for both of you is to find a way to prevent it from happening again. 6.7k Reply Share

Muted Alter6.6 days ago Omg, this happened to me, and my cat is strictly indoors only! My sister left the door open and I called put my son and found him! He was scared and ended having fleas!!! We had to bomb the apt twice. Please check your baby girl for fleas and ticks!

GrowthAny668 · 6 days ago . edited 6 days ago My cat once fled like that and the building guard found him. Apparently my niece had accidentally left the door open. While I didn't scold her, she realised I was upset and got me a cat mug as an apology that evening.

My point is that if a teenager has the maturity to understand how that was a big deal for me, your girlfriend should too. Calmly tell her how scary that must have been for you. Maybe she's just deflecting her guilt and realises this later. And if she still doesn't understand, that's a red flag right there, friend. 1.2k Reply Share

tresordelamer · 6 days ago you're definitely not being dramatic. that animal is defenseless and relies on you for care. a couple years ago my cat sitter let one of my babies get out while i was away and it was devastating. i was fortunate that a neighbour found him less than a week later. but the trauma is with me forever. if someone i lived with cared about let that happen, and then told me i was being dramatic, that person would be launched into the nearest dumpster.

vanillabeanquartz · 6 days ago This would be a MASSIVE deal breaker for me personally. My cat is essentially my child, so not only is this situation potentially very harmful for local wildlife, it's extremely emotionally distressing. Also, the fact your partner is clearly dismissing your (very valid) feelings is a whole other can of worms entirely.

Cocobean4 6 days ago Red flag alert. Not only is she disregarding the safety of your cat, she's completely unempathetic towards why you are upset. A good person who had made a mistake would be very apologetic and try to make it up to you. Is this a pattern of other thoughtless, selfish behaviour?

tatasz 6 days ago I'm a cat person and I think you are being fine. If a bf did it to me, I'd drag him out in his underwear, lock the door, and let him fend for himself.
